BCFA County Sunday Youth Cup Semi Final: The contest between the two sides to decide who would represent the Coventry Minor League in this years Youth Cup Final went the way of Solihull based Silhill Youth. Steve Townsend and Kevin Lloyd scoring the goals that take them through after a 2-0 defeat of Hawkes Mill Juniors.

Under 9 Knock Out Cup Semi Final: Mount Nod Highway 1 (Ivor Lawton) Ernesford Dynamos (Red) 4 (Tom Wedgebury 3, Fraser Miller)

Under 9 Red: A last minute penalty kick by Ryan Gough earned Coventry Jaguar Youth a 3-2 win over Coventry Sphinx Juniors. Callum Maguire put Jaguar ahead against the run of play but Danny McCann scored twice to put the Sphinx ahead only for Josh Brassington to score a second for the Jaguar before half time. After the break, chances came at both ends and until the late penalty award a draw looked the possible result.

Under 9 Blue: AT7 Youth and Dunlop Juniors shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Drew Moloney put Dunlop ahead but AT7 were quickly level when Ciaran Gill perfectly met a centre with his forehead to brilliantly power in a goal from the edge of the penalty area. The two well matched teams tried hard to break each other down but the closest either came to a second goal was when AT7 rattled the Dunlop crossbar late in the game. Dunlop Jets and Coventry Jaguar Youth both created openings in a lively start to their contest. The Jets went ahead after Keenan McClure, Daniel Woodbridge and Jordan Hurst had combined for Keenan to score. Moments later, the same player made it 2-0 after a Woodridge shot had cannoned back off of the Jaguar crossbar. The visitors were killed off early in the second half when Hurst scored twice before William Yates made it 5-0 by tapping in a perfectly weighted pass from Adam Kocklebergh.

Under 10 Knock Out Cup Quarter Finals: Coventry Jaguar Youth reached their second cup semi final of the season with a 3-0 defeat of Binley Woods. The Woods played their full part in the match, hitting an upright but it was the Jaguar who coped with the blustery conditions. A through ball laid on by Louis Pittaway opened up the Binley defence for Robert Tressler to score the first goal. Joe Price made it 2-0 with Tressler grabbing the third after good work by Gurpreet Singh Due. Ernesford Dynamos just edged past Finham Park Rangers 1-0 in a very competitive game, the winning goal being scored by James Formstone ten seconds from the end of the game. George Davison hit the Ernesford upright direct from a corner kick with Jack Dobson putting a shot just wide at the other end before Finham’s’ Matthew Corrigan saw his shot well saved. Defences were very much to the fore in the second half and the only goal finally arrived following a corner kick by Finham. The ball was cleared upfield to Formstone who took his time to slot the ball past the despairing dive of Gareth Price for the only goal of the game. Caludon Youth made a bright start to their tie with Christ the King, Shaun Russell putting them in front after only ten minutes. The kings began to get to grips with the wind and James Ritson and Lewis Martin both saw efforts bounce back off of an upright before an equaliser arrived courtesy of the head of a Caludon defender. Jamie Green in the Kings goal then pulled of a flying save, turning a shot around a post to keep the scores even at half time. In the second half, Taylor McGregor put Christ the King ahead but the midfield of Jack Stephenson, William Huckvale and Connor Hennessey were kept busy by a Caludon side that would not give up and it needed a second goal with an excellent McGregor finish to seal a place in the semi finals for Christ the King. Chapelfields Colts finally came out on top against Kenilworth Wardens in a keenly contested cup tie. The game was a credit to all concerned in it and Chapelfields took the win 1-0 when Tom O’Callaghan scored midway through the second half.

Under 10 Red: London Road picked up an overdue win to lift themselves off of the foot of the league table. Jack Goodbody pulled off several saves to deny Keresley Colts in the first half before the Lions got to grips in the second half to score three times. Assists by Declan Corcoran and Jordan Deehan helped Josh Bird to a well taken hat trick.

Under 10 Blue: The Coundon Cockerels defence withstood early pressure before Alex Dolby broke through to give Christ the King the lead that was doubled by Jack Reilly before half time. In the second half, it was almost constant pressure by the kings and Jake Wells scored a third goal. The Cockerels then had a breakaway ending in a goal for Corey Shields but the Kings came back strongly and Declan Keogh and Alex Roddy wound up a 5-1 win.

Under 10 Green: Coventry Colts picked up only their second point of the season with a battling display and a goal less draw with Brinklow Juniors. The whole tem was outstanding, goalkeeper Connor Shuttleworth twice denying the Brinklow attack on the few times they got past the rest of his team mates. Liam Pratt and Ryan Clark defended superbly, ably supported by Louis Johnston, Thomas Somers Reece Ewart and Ryan Windsor.

Under 11A: Dunlop took an early lead against Coventry Sphinx when Stephen O’Sullivan latched onto a fine through ball from Jake Holt. Goalkeeper Ryan Copping was then forced into making two good saves to preserve the lead before O’Sullivan made it 2-0 following a cross from Jack Shilton. In the second half, the Sphinx played some good football but were unable to break through the Dunlop defence superbly marshalled by Ben Lyons. A goal scored direct from a corner kick that was quickly added to put Whitley Juniors 2-0 in front against Finham Park Rangers. Adam King pulled a goal back for Finham but Whitley scored three more and although Matt Budd and Tom Rawlings made it 5-3. it was a case of too little, too late for Finham. Christ the King goalkeeper, Richard Eaves was in superb for in the game with PSA Peugeot Citroen. Several times he denied Aaron Cooke and Chris Cox (Peugeot) the chance of opening the scoring but with Martin Yardley and Conor Walton battling in midfield, the game ended in a goal less draw.

Under 11B: Dunlop Dynamos were put under pressure when Ernesford opened the scoring but Amit Gill soon levelled things again. Near the end of the first half, things were repeated with Ernesford and Dunlop both scoring again. Sam Griffiths put Dunlop ahead early into the second half and this was built on when Gill completed a fine hat trick before Daniel Randle wrapped up a 5-2 win for Dunlop with a well struck swerving shot.

Under 12 Knock Out Cup Quarter Finals: Coventry Jaguar Youth moved into the semi-finals after edging past Chapelfields Colts by the odd goal in eleven. Sean O’Donnell put the Colts in front but the Jaguar came back strongly to take a 4-1 lead. Jacob Blackwell, with a fine run, and a header by David Evans pulled it back to 4-3 before the Jaguar scored again. With Sean Donoghue and Alex Smith enjoying good games for Chapelfields, O’Donnell grabbed his second to make the score 5-4 but once again the Jaguar went two goals ahead. Evans blasted his second to make it 5-6 in favour of Coventry Jaguar and despite serious pressure in the closing minutes, the Jaguar defence held out to win a hugely entertaining cup tie.

Under 12B: Dunlop assured themselves of top division football next season with a 1-0 defeat of the only team who could have denied them success, Allesley Aces. The breakthrough came after nineteen minutes when Danny Butler scored the all important goal from eight yards. In the second half, the Aces bombarded the Dunlop goal but skipper Thomas Ball led his defence with superb aplomb to hold Allesley at bay. With so much dependant on the result, both teams and their supporters are to be commended for such a high level of sportsmanship.

Under 15B: Goals by Daniel Edmond (2) and Alan Johnson earned Bermuda Colts not only a 3-2 win over Chapelfields Colts (Jonathan Lee 2) bur also the second promotion place behind Coventry Boys Club and an outside chance of the divisional champions trophy.

Under 16A: This division is fast becoming a two horse race as leaders North Warwick College depended upon a very late strike by Lee Aucott to defeat Morris Rangers 1-0 and Dunlop saw off the challenge of Hartshill 5-1 thanks to a treble from Leon Falconer. Coventry Sphinx eased back to winning ways as goals from Danny Cahill and Steven Kingham in each half saw them to a 2-0 win against Bedworth United

Under 16B: Two Scott McNie goals helped Bedworth Eagles ease to a close 3-2 win over PSA Peugeot Citroen whilst second and third placed, White Hart and Jaguar Colts put on a thriller that ended in a 3-2 success for Jaguar thanks to two John Moynihan goals.

Tamworth Invitation Trophy Semi Finals: Nuneaton Griff and Rugby Town will contest the under 15 final after a four goal burst by David Kolodynski helped Rugby to a 6-1 defeat of Coventry Sphinx and the Griff overcame Whitley Juniors 3-1. Ross Knight put Whitley ahead after five minutes but Ryan Birch struck twice for the Griff before half time, once from the penalty spot and the second following a solo run and finish. Playing with the stiff wind behind them in the second half, Whitley dominated possession but were unable to break through a rock solid Griff defence. The Griff wrapped up a 3-1win fifteen minutes from time when a breakaway led to Daniel Pegler scoring. The Sphinx however will have a team at the finals after their under 14 side saw off the challenge of Wallace JFC 2-0. Dunlop Juniors under 11 emulated their under 16s’ by reaching also claiming a cup final place. They fell behind to Atherstone Rangers but came back to level when Stefan Grudzinski headed in a corner kick by Jack Shilton. The Atherstone goalkeeper made several fine stops before first Luke Ellis and then Stephen O’Sullivan also finished off corner kicks from Shilton. Atherstone grabbed a second goal two minutes from time bur Dunlop hung on for a 3-2 win.
